Membership Dues:

Though this is late news for some of you, the membership dues invoicing has changed this season.  If you have paid dues for the 2009/2010 season, your membership is valid through 6/30/2010.

Intermountain will be sending statements in the spring for payment of dues for the 2010/2011 season.  Online payment processing will be available through the National website in the spring as well.

If you would still like to pay early, as you have been accustomed in the past, you can send in payment for the 2010/2011 season to our office and we will apply payment to the season beginning 7/1/2010.  $83 for Level 1 members and $90 for Level 2 & 3 members.

Certified level I Process for 2009-2010

The Certified Level I process is undergoing some changes this 09/10 season and if you would like to learn or review the process ... read this document and the Level 1 Assessment Process Details. These documents and the Level 1 Study Guide have been posted to the Alpine Discipline Page

Note: that changes are still possible and if made, those changes will be posted to this web site.

Crash helmets

The use of crash helmets is compulsory for all Race/Gate events.

According to the FIS:

Helmets with spoilers or edges that stick out are not permitted. Certain helmets must show a smooth top surface for safety reasons. Helmets used in FIS Snowsports shall be specifically designed and manufactured for the respective discipline and shall bear a CE mark and conform to recognized and appropriate standards such as CEE 1077 or US 2040, ASTM F2040, SNELL S98 or RS 98, etc. Soft ear protections are only allowed for SL events. FIS Specifications for Competition Equipment Edition 2008

As you can see the FIS does not recognize nor probably want to endorse a certain helmet brand. If the helmet has been sold for skiing, which would include any helmet sold in a "ski shop", then it will be suitable for Gate/Race clinics. The participant should realize that there are many choices in helmet selection. The FIS has high standards and there expertise should be taken into consideration for personal helmet choice. The user assumes responsibility for their choice of helmets
