INSTRUCTOR CURRICULUM (NEW 2011)
The recommended optional path to Certification

This list of recommendations is only a suggested minimum curriculum. It is possible that some instructors will require further training in some of the topics before achieving assessment success.

An assessment candidate seeking success in the process should make sure they are:
First, exposed to the information presented in these individual topics.
Second, devoting the additional necessary time to mastering the information presented in each topic. The amount of time needed achieve to do so will vary from person to person.

LEVEL 1
Attend a minimum of one of these three events prior to the Level 1 Assessment


LEVEL 2
On Snow Clinics – attend a minimum of 4 days out of the listed options

Indoor Evening Lectures – attend a minimum of 2 lectures out of the listed options

  • Fundamentals of Movement Analysis
  • Skills Concept 101, Parts I and II
  • Fundamentals of Pedagogy

LEVEL 3
On Snow Clinics - attend a minimum of 4 days out of the listed options

Indoor Evening Lectures – attend a minimum of 3 lectures out of the listed options

  • Advanced Movement Analysis
  • Anatomy
  • Biomechanics
  • Kinesiology

To become a Level I Certified Instructor:

1. Certified Level I Process and Level 1 Assessment Process Details
2. Level I Workbook
3. Skier Assessment Sheet
4. Level I Assessment Scoresheet

National PSIA Level I Certified Instructor Standards


To become a Level II Certified Instructor:

(NOTE: numbered steps must be completed in sequence)

1. Pass Level II written test. (Level II Portfolio and Study Guide)
2. Attend one of the following clinics a minimum of one time before taking the On-hill skiing assessment.

3. Pass Level II On-hill skiing assessment. (Scorecard)
4. Pass Level II Teaching/Movement Analysis assessment. (Scorecard)
(Skier Assessment Sheet)

  • If the candidate fails to qualify either assessment they must retake one of the above listed Level II clinics a minimum of one time.

National PSIA Level II Certified Instructor Standards


To become a Level III Certified Instructor :

(NOTE: numbered steps must be completed in sequence)

1. Pass Level III written test. (Level III Portfolio and Study Guide)
2. Attend one of the following clinics a minimum of one time before taking the On-hill skiing assessment.

3. Pass Level III On-hill skiing assessment. (Scorecard)
4. Pass Level III Teaching/Movement Analysis assessment. (Scorecard)

  • If the candidate fails to qualify either assessment they must retake one of the above listed Level III clinics a minimum of one time.

The certification process is a rigorous journey.  It is recommended prior to any assessment the candidate attend as many PSIA-I clinics as possible.
