Biography

I am Carl Boyer, and I started skiing at Pajarito Mountain in New Mexico in 1963. My ski teaching career began in 1973 with the University of Utah Ski School, the nations first university level ski instruction methods course, dating to 1949. I became Associate Certified (Level II) in the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association (now PSIA-Intermountain) in 1975, continuing as the Technical Director for the U of U Ski School from fall 1975 through the spring of 1979.

I began teaching skiing full time at Snowbird Mountain Resort in the fall of 1979, where I am currently employed. I achieved Alpine Level III certification in 1985, then Alpine Divisional Education and Certification Leader status in 1991. I also hold Snowboard Level I, Accredited Children’s Educator I, and basic Park & Pipe Accreditation in PSIA/AASI Intermountain.

I have served on the Board of Directors for PSIA/AASI Intermountain since 2002; serving as Member at Large; Communications VP; President; and Administrative VP.

My major at the University of Utah was Geology, and I worked many summer seasons in field geophysics. I currently restore special interest automobiles, specializing in Citroens from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
