... And the Envelope Please:

The National Three C's Award goes to Intermountain member and Jackson Hole instructor Shannon Schiner. This award recognizes members who demonstrate positive leadership behavior within a snowsport school through collaboration, communication, and cooperation with guests, peers, and school management. Shannon models leadership as she trains and mentors new staff at Jackson. "Helping my clients meet and exceed goals is amazing. I always say that most days I learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Apart from the clients, I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy all my colleagues. It is amazing to work in an environment with so many phenomenal professionals from a wide range of backgrounds. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a talented and dynamic crew who help me become a better instructor season after season. Whether it is working with other members of the team or with clients, no two days are the same and each day brings a greater appreciation for sharing my passion of the mountains." Congratulations Shannon!

Park City Takes Another Step toward Zero Waste

In their ongoing initiative to achieve zero waste-to-landfill, Park City has started to send food waste (over 2 tons since February) to Utah's first anaerobic digester. The digester breaks down biodegradable material into renewable natural gas and bio-based fertilizer and reduces methane gas that would be released from landfills otherwise. Vail Resorts has pledged to reach a zero net operating footprint by 2030 - their "Commitment to Zero." Converting waste to energy is a step toward their goal. Way to model sustainability, Park City!
