PSIA-AASI Educational Exchange Program

Last season, PSIA-AASI initiated a new exchange program. As part of this program, Intermountain hosted Education Staff from the West and Northwest Divisions. The visitors audited our Level 2 assessment process.

There are 4 primary goals of the exchange program:
- Share best practices between the eight divisions.
- Develop quality assurance and enhancement initiative that will promote trust among divisional staff and membership.
- Align with the PSIA-AASI’s 3 C’s Philosophy (Communication, Collaboration, Consolidation).
- Progress towards the creation of an inter-divisional education/exam staff.

The program continues this season; Intermountain will visit the Eastern Divsion and host the Western Division. The exchange program has financial support from PSIA-AASI. Each division receives up to $4000 to offset all costs.

The Exchange Program has already helped every division identify areas for progress and develop confidence about the things that they do well. Reports are shared with the host division, the home division of the visitors, and the Education Leadership Council (The ELC). The ELC is the national entity responsible for facilitating the Exchange Program and consolidating the information.

When Education Staff visit, they are only here to observe; they are not involved in the assessment decision making. PSIA-I is excited to visit the Eastern Division this year. We will have the chance to observe some of their clinics, assessments, and possibly their education staff selection process.

Alpine Level 2 & 3 Certification Updates

For Level 2 and 3, candidates need to take a prep clinic to prepare for their first assessment. If the candidate needs to retake either or both segments of the assessment, another prep clinic is NOT required. Teach Assessments will be offered in a two-day format and the Ski Assessments will be offered in a single day format. The new Teach format allows time for candidates to show their movement analysis and teaching skills while receiving some coaching or feedback.
