Education Update

Over the past few years our association has been going through a comprehensive strategic alignment process. As a result, in addition to using the same National Standard for certification all 8 PSIA-AASI divisions are now using many of the same resources. These include:
- A performance guide used to design divisional process and education
- A national candidate assessment form (scorecard)
- A shared scoring scale.

The goal is one we’ve desired and pursued for a long time: consistency!

Thanks to this evolution, all Intermountain Discipline Managers have been taking a fresh look at everything the division does relative to education and certification. You can expect to see several new things when you investigate your educational opportunities this season. Beyond aligning with the other divisions, these changes should immediately benefit you in several ways:
- Increased number and more diverse range of clinic topics
- Transparent and intuitive clinic titles
- Specific attainable clinic objectives
- Experiences that balance content with practice
- Clinic leader and participant accountability

You’ll notice several new clinic titles and revised descriptions when you explore the calendar. Hopefully we have made the process of finding the right clinic easier and clearly communicated how each educational offering supports your development. We will continue to share more detailed information about our revised educational curriculum throughout the fall.

The 2021-22 calendar will be available for registration starting the week of September 20.

Scholarship Spotlight

Thank you for the scholarship that allowed me to continue adding to my skiing portfolio. This year with the scholarship I was able to participate and complete the Level 1 Adaptive Ski Instructors course. With this I was able to teach and ski with a number of individuals who are either visually impaired or fully blind. This has become my passion and I love being able to give people the opportunity to ski down a mountain even though they have no vision. Being retired the scholarship has made this possible for me and I know others can benefit from it as well.
- Christine Chidgely

Scholarships are available for the upcoming season. The application is online and easy to fill out, so get it done by November 15!
