New Policies on CEUs and Inactive Status

Over the past year, the operational leaders across all eight divisions of PSIA-AASI have been working for consistency in our Continuing education policies. The new CEU policy has slightly different wording and now allows members to carry forward six credits for one year after they are earned. There will still be a delinquency fee if you do not maintain your CEUs, and after two years you will be changed to Inactive Status.

The new Inactive Status policy allows members some flexibility in the event that they cannot work toward the CEU requirement if they are temporarily unable to. You can now remain inactive for up to eight years. During that time you need to take 12 CEUs every four years. After eight years you must move to another status (Alumni or registered) or return to active fulfillment of CEUs. If you have questions about your status at renewal, please feel free to contact the office at 801-942-2066 or admin@psia-i.org.

The full policies are listed below.

CEU Management Policy

A certified member needs to obtain a minimum of six CEUs every membership year (July 1 – June 30). Any CEU hours greater than six obtained in a membership year will be applied towards the CEU requirement for the following membership year only.

We have a new Inactive Status policy that allows members some flexibility in the event that they cannot work toward the CEUs if they are temporarily unable to. If you have questions about your status at renewal please feel free to call the office.

Certified Inactive Status Policy

Members who do not follow the CEU guidelines as outlined will be assessed a delinquency fee for each delinquent year, up to two years. At that time, the member will stay active by following the CEU guidelines or be move to inactive status.

Members who move to Inactive Status may be inactive for a total of four years in the first inactive cycle. The cycle will start the year after the member was last active with CEUs. During the four-year inactive cycle, the member is required to complete 12 CEUs.

A member may be inactive for two cycles, or a total of eight years. At that time, the member must pursue active status or choose to move to another membership category (Alumni or Registered).

At any time of inactive status, the member can choose to move back to active status by catching up on all their CEU requirements within that four-year cycle.
