Top of the Course Award

By Rich McLaughlin, PSIA-AASI Intermountain President

Great news! PSIA/AASI Intermountain has the honor to call one of our own the proud recipient of this National award. The award is presented to members pursuing Level III certification. It recognizes individuals who score at the highest percentile in skiing/snowboarding, teaching and technical knowledge; and who empower other candidates during the exam process. Candidates must display exceptional compassion and understanding for the needs of others, which results in a more positive examination environment.

Chantry R. Marble is this year’s recipient. He is the first intermountain member to receive this award. He is also the first snowboarder.

During the exam, Chantry exemplified why we teach snowboarding in the first place: to help people enjoy riding. His help to a fellow candidate set an example. All three candidates passed the exam and are now Certified Level 3 Snowboard Instructors. I am sure they will share these memories for the rest of their careers.

Even though the conditions on the three days were challenging and difficult, it was my pleasure to be a part of it. To watch someone exude everything that’s good about snowboarding is inspirational and just plain fun.

We want to Congratulate Chantry on his award. Well done!
